Hello, /k/. I've got a rather weird question. Chlorine gas, the stuff you get by mixing bleach and vinegar, does not just suffocate you, but also passes in through your skin and kills you. But what happens after? Does it just stay inside the body or evaporates out? What I'm getting at, let's say I have a very large chicken that was killed by chlorine gas, and stayed in the cloud for like half an hour. Can I eat it? Maybe I can leech out the toxins by soaking the meat in water? I really need an answer on this one

Good news for you, the meat has effectively neutralized the acid, the chlorine reacted with some sodium to rock salt or calcium into calcium chloride, both safe to eat in moderation.

Chlorine reacts with water in the body to form hydrochloric acid, which in turn reacts with various body tissues to cause cell death. There may be some residual acid in the corpse after death but it is unlikely to be sufficiently concentrated to make the meat inedible.
