What are the rules for competition drone shooting? If /k/ had to make a serious sport from it.

Gotta wear a silly costume like cowboy action shooters. No black stocks only wooden furniture.

Hmm, That's a good question.
1. Automatic weapon
>Shotgun, Machine Gun, Assault Rifle, Pistol
2. Bolt Action weapon
>Rifle
3. You can stand shooting or run retreating shooting as it's coming towards you.

The drone carrys a paint bomb, that sprays the surrounding area when it gets close to enough to you meaning you are eliminated.

I've got some random thoughts. Make it team-based, each team gets 2 drone operators and 3 gunners. Each team operates from a "home base", these are at least a hundred yards apart, the idea being that birdshot fired from that distance is not hazardous. Everyone wears paintball protective gear. The drones use paintballs and "paint bombs" to score hits.

Do it like the North Koreans where one man goes out as bait while the others shoot at the drone.

maybe combine it with some other activity, like capture-the-flag?

>Semi autos or pump actions "combat/riot" style shotguns only.
>no barrels over 20-22 inches.
>need to use 3 inch shells in 1β…› to 1ΒΌ oz shot weight.
>1300 FPS minimum.
>can only use shot sizes of 4, 5, 6.
>can only use cylinder or improved cylinder chokes.
>drones can approach you at 70 MPH from any direction from your front and extreme left and right.
>you are considered killed/point lost when it enters your 50 foot zone, which is the kill radius of an m67 frag grenade.
I've thought a lot about this and its basically the exact opposite of trap/skeet/sporting clays. I styled it to be more of a drone combat sim than a points game.

Some army was training by throwing a mop on a long stick to tangle the rotors.

What's the purpose of mandating hard-recoiling shells? That removes some strategy from the game.

You want it to be basically the same type of weapons the army

You have a better chance of killing drones using bird hunting style loads.
If I wanted it to be more user friendly than I suppose you could use the usual trap and skeet stuff. I shoot Winchester AA 24 gram #7Β½ shot at ~1350 FPS when im at the trap field, its a pretty light load and its similar to what the Olympic games mandate.

Starting to think something like an extra long low velocity 40mm shell loaded with a bunch of fiber optic line or something similar might be the trick

I'm thinking of something like the taser darts and how they trails the wire behind them.

Yeah basically.
It would just be a game though, so if you wanted to bring your nice Beretta over/under and shoot light loads im sure that would be fine too.

>You have a better chance of killing drones using bird hunting style loads.
Yeah, but you can't shoot them as fast, and most people can't shoot them as accurately. That should be a variable left up to the players to decide, to to see what works better.

>If I wanted it to be more user friendly
I don't. I want greater strategic depth. I want players to have to consider the trade-off. I'm asking why limit the shells at all, other than whatever you have to do for safety (i.e. no slugs)
Anonymous No.64402438 >>64402441

Again, why limit it? How does that make it more interesting to play or watch? I say allow all shotguns, and then we can see in real time what works best. Will the better ergonomics off the fudd double gun make up for its shit capacity? Will semis rule the day or will they choke on birdshot making pumps king? I want to see that play out.

Agreed. Army or whatever you bring.

An idea of making it a bit more complicated would be to introduce different size classes of drones, with each team limited by some kind of point system. The larger drones could be designed to require larger shot sizes and/or more hits to take down, but they have a higher point cost which means teams could field fewer of them. Then part of the strategy becomes balancing the number of drones vs the drone's capability.

Again
>I styled it to be more of a drone combat sim than a points game.
I was just taking into consideration what the Army and Marines currently issue and using that to guide what would be the guns of choice. Its a fun game though, so if you want to use ur Benelli Montefeltro and shot 1 oz #8 shot at 1200 fps, then play ball.
One thing I didnt consider is if the drones making a zig zag or curve approach to your kill zone is allowed. I think it maybe should be.

>ne thing I didnt consider
there's an awful lot of things you didn't consider.

>I think it maybe should be.
It would be incredibly boring if it wasn't. Let the players pilot the drones however they want. Planning out the strategy--who is piloting what drones(s) from what direction at what time should be a major strategic part of the game.

So you want a team based drone game? I was thinking of a solo player drone game. One drone operator against one stationary shooter. Since most drone kills and drone intercepts are one drone against one unlucky dude who has to stop running and hope he hits the drone before it hits too close.
I dont think I've seen a troop run and gun a drone and not get killed.
