I was shooting a few days ago as part of like a small family reunion for something, and one of my relatives had a Desert Eagle (.44) and a Buck Mark .22. I shot the Deagle first to which I was able to control the recoil well, and when I shot the .22 I was still braced for impact like how I was with the .44, and I shot the entire 10 rounds pretty much staying still.

.22 will still kill tho

The part that goes inside you is about 2% thinner than a 5.56 from an AR-15.
If you have a real size fetish get your hands on 1mm pinfire rounds for miniature guns and cannons.

It's also less heavy and a shitload slower, also being an unjacketed lead bullet.

Sure, all of that is true.
Still kills people and large animals all the time.
Unless you're at long range, failure to stop is a skill issue, but there's nothing wrong with using something bigger, heavier, and more powerful to make up for an inferior shooter.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jokela_school_shooting

The Jokela school shooting, also known as the Jokela High School massacre, occurred on 7 November 2007, at Jokela High School in the town of Jokela, Tuusula, Finland. The gunman, 18-year-old Pekka-Eric Auvinen, entered the school that morning armed with a semi-automatic pistol. He killed eight people and wounded one before shooting himself in the head.

>purchased a .22-calibre SIG Sauer Mosquito and 500 rounds of ammunition

Yeah, I'd say that a guy with a semi-auto .22 LR pistol can kill 8+1 people with no problem.
(please do seek help with school bullying and/or any mental health problems before you go ful Amok Also, maybe just not do it at all?)

I think those situations aren't a great metric, because it's someone attacking completely unarmed targets, he doesn't have anyone shooting back, he can just shoot someone repeatedly until they're down.

btw, this was the guy who left a manifesto proclaiming that "I will be the force of natural selection! I will weed out the weak and those unsuited for society!"

...while it was in fact he, himself, that was the one who was unsuited for society. He was the one who could not meet the expectations of the environment. All those other kids in that school? They were doing FINE! They were the ones that DID adapt to the surrounding environment and society. They did meet the needs and requirements of the outside world.

It was this sad fucker who did not meet those demands and requirements. And those requirements were just "be an ok citizen, dude. Just, like, have a normal life, with friends, and maybe a family?"

He could not attain it, and (somehow) came to conclusion that "IT'S EVERYONE ELSE'S FAULT!" and then dot up the school.
Sometimes, it's NOT the society that's to blame. Sometimes, it's your ability to fit into it. (and dont' start talking bullshit about "well, maybe the society is wrong!" - this is FINLAND, the country that has pretty much the most chill attitude about personal life and freedoms in existance)

It's a 10 round magazine, the gun still needs to put people down in a shot or two, or he'd have just gotten mobbed in hand-to-hand and not be able to reload. It's not like people will just sit there crying while watching you put magazine after magazine into the guy next to them.

That's easy to rationalize, but you're talking about highschoolers being shot at, which ones are going to have that courage. Who actually fought back when he attacked?

A lot of these shootings get stopped by someone tackling the shooter, so it's not outlandish.
Even if everyone just ran, if 22s were just poking holes in them with no stopping power, they'd scatter long before he could kill them through mag dumping alone, and most of them would survive after medical attention.
The Sig mosquito only comes with one magazine, loading magazines with loose rounds isn't exactly fast. Even if he bought extra mags to go with it, 4 magazines is 3-4 bullets per kill, not worse than your average 9mm police shooting.

He was such a sperg that he couldn't wait one additonal year to obtain a licence for a 9mm any other bigger caliber gun, which actually saved more kids from dying by his hands.

I'm not sincerely arguing that .22LR is harmless, for the record, because it really isn't, but it IS limited in power.

From a rifle barrel, you actually get pretty good speed with it and it can cut pretty deep into a human torso, so that can be a very serious wound even if it doesn't cavitate or have much projectile expansion.
From a pistol barrel, it's a lot slower, and it's certainly not harmless here either, but it's an appreciable difference.

>>64405612
>>64405958
Probably, it would have increased the chances of those he wounded dying.

>I'm not sincerely arguing that .22LR is harmless, for the record, because it really isn't, but it IS limited in power.
Oh, I agree. It's basically the minimum viable cartridge - if you're at close range, and the target is unarmored, and you can aim well enough with a good, readily available firearm to deliver the bullet to the right spot, it will kill basically any animal on land. Maybe not elephants, if you require one-shot-one-kill.
But those are serious constraints. Nobody is good enough to land those shots on any creature on command, and the people who are closest aren't stupid enough to make a habit of getting close enough to bears and shit to get a good shot with a 22 without transsonic uncertainty, it's just too risky and stupid.
Making the kill less demanding is really practically valuable. Being accurate at 500 yards is great. Being able to put down human or larger targets even on shots that are just competent instead of impeccable is the difference between life and death. Being able to pierce through armor is a minimum requirement when it's relevant.
.22 can do it if you're good enough, but you can't Git Gud if you're fucking dead, and everyone has actual lives to get to instead of becoming godlike enough to do it all with the minimum viable cartridge. Just because it CAN do a job doesn't mean it's the best tool for the job, and in almost every case, it's not.

And the margins for that kind of shot get FUCKING narrow for anything not small, which is why nobody sane actually ever does this, and why shit like shooting just deer with a .22 is widely regarded as cruel bullshit by lowlife poachers who don't care about anything remotely resembling a clean kill.

You can theoretically also stab a raging bear in the right spot to stop him immediately, and it's totally easy, you just do it, git gud!
