10mm is the best winter carry caliber
Specifically the Glock 20. Best grip circumference I’ve had the pleasure to shoot (unless you have manlet hands), can take down thick threats in the hood or woods, conceals pretty well in a concealment OWB holster.

Stop trying to rationalize another gun purchase. Just go buy a 10mm.

Gen 5 with XS R3D 2.0 night sights, in a gunfighters inc OWB holster. It’s my only non red dot sight carry. I keep it loaded with underwood 220 grain hard cast flat tip.

I like the idea of 10mm, but 45 is the most fun pistol caliber to shoot, and I can carry +P in just about any new production handgun without worrying about blowing the thing up like 10mm bubbas do with their nuclear-tier pissin' hot loads.

cops seldom have to use their guns and most cops don't really give a shit about their guns so they go for a year or more without cleaning them or oiling them. in every single video I've seen of people trying to limp wrist a glock that has actually been taken care of they have the most tenuous grip imaginable to actually get it to limp wrist

+ Cops walk from hot air to cold air literally all day long, which causes water to condensate inside the gun. Then they go "i didn't fire it so no need to clean it", which causes the rusting seen in your pic when they finally do go to the range.

Lots of law enforcement and gheto gorillas suffer the same issue.
They just want power. They think a gun is a power trinket. They wave it around and wear it for years and it works. It scares people. They never actually have to use it. And when they do we get funny YouTube videos of several magazines being dumped wildly without a single hit.

what people, anons on here who don't actually hunt dangerous game? i find it interesting that safari rounds like .375 all use normal, modern bullets and when i search 'hard cast' all i see are black powder bullets and buffalo bore, almost like its a marketing scheme to make you pay more money for a more manly-sounding bullet.

Read an actual book. A lot of the classic safari cartridges used steel-jacketed solid bullet loads for bigger game like elephants.

Hard cast just resist shedding material and deformation. Lead center fmjs will bend and deform especially on bone. When it comes to grizzly or something of that nature with tougher hide and hair followed by bone in a situation where choosing or waiting for the best shot angle is not an option it comes down to tracking. You want that bullet to track straight. Not give and bend and get sent off track. Cast offers a better chance of a straight path in a non optimal situation. That said a round nose fmj that is heavy for caliber usually tracks pretty straight even when it encounters hard resistance. But not always.

Woodleigh uses monolithic now. That is more like a hardcast. They still offer the old fmjs and softs. But technologically speaking monolithic bullets (hard cast being the grandaddy) seem to be the superior choice for penetration, straight tracking and best chance on dangerous tough game.
