Why don't tanks have flash hiders?
They make a very visible flash, wouldn't it be useful to hide that a little bit?

We don't see any flash suppressors and so they are not worth it.

Fins on HEAT rounds opening unevenly, striking the tines etc.
Potentially SABOT petals breaking apart early depending on the design
Muzzle signature is still pretty fucking huge anyway and only reduced in visible spectrum, not thermal.
Doesn't do anything to reduce recoil which is the only actual reason some large calibre guns still use muzzle devices

They exist, they are just way too big to ever be practical. If they were mounted on the barrel it would just snap off or the tank would nosedive into the ground from the weight. Like the first anon said, compared to a rifle, a tank round being fired is like a bomb going off

If you see tank flash, 0.5s later - you are dead.

You probably need a ton of additional length for such a thing to actually be effective with large calibres, at which point it's going to cause more problems than it will solve

Unless it is a rapid-fire weapon, flash from firing is unlikely to be a problem for the shooter.

You can cut down 5.56mm to a fucking 8.5" barrel and have whopping big fireballs, and it's still going to be completely insubstantial compared to the muzzle blast from a tank's main gun.
You're not going to be able to usefully reduce visual signature with a flashhider on a cannon like this, and it's not going to do shit to its other signatures.

Yeah, and the flashhider still makes a difference in that case, but for a big 120mm cannon, you're not going to NOT have a colossal and thundering fireball at the muzzle, you can at best hope to make it a bit milder so that they maybe think it's a smaller cannon, but still a cannon.

I think Russia has some suppressed mortars which honestly is one of the few things i could see it being useful with. most big guns are either too far away for that to be a concern or aren't going to be tasked down to such a stealthy mission. Giving some close range fire support a little bit of stealth could be pretty nice to have

Why does noone put muzzle brakes on MBTs cannons? As some anons already pointed out it's because it messes with the discarding sabots, the same thing goes for flash hiders like your picrel, wich is on an artillery piece so there's no worry about sabots.
On the other hand three piece flash hiders shouldn't interfere with sabots and while, as someone I'm to lazy to (you) here pointed out, the signature will still be enormous, it'll be reduced nonetheless, wich can help you conceal yourself or at least deceive the enemy.
