RBAutism
I have a small autism for Ranger Body Armor. It's both aesthetically pleasing and an interesting intermediate technological step from "soft" Kevlar and flak vests to IBAs and the modern plate carriers of today.

Post RBAs, be they sets you own or just have pictures of.

Starting with some pics of RBAs used by the 101st Airborne Division when it deployed to Kosovo from 2000 to 2001

Is it just me or do RBA vests remind anyone else of the “chicken plate” vests from Vietnam?
Anonymous No.64424768 [Report]
It's all nostalgia but goddamn do I love the aesthetics of this era. BDUs, A2 rifles, and ALICE gear is my jam.

Can't be 100% certain with this one because of the shitty camera quality but I think the one in the foreground is wearing an RBA.

Anonymous No.64460311 [Report] >>64461992

Retard question, what's the point of the M203 heat shield (apart from looking cool)? Does it really heat up so much that regular handguards will melt?
Anonymous No.64461992 [Report] >>64463406
>>64460311
Built in grenade launcher sight is the important bit. It also covers what would be a slightly awkward gap and more securely mounts than just a top clamshell, which isn't critical but you may as well.
Using just an upper clamshell with a M203 is perfectly viable.
With RIS none of this mattered.
