KF41 Lynx for Ukraine
>The first Lynx – produced in Hungary – was sent to Ukraine for testing at the end of 2024. After that, the project went quiet for a while. After all, one thing is in short supply in Ukraine: labor. And so the country is carefully considering which systems truly require their own production line and which are more likely to be welcomed as gifts from other nations.
>This trade-off appears to have been favorable for the Lynx infantry fighting vehicle. Defence Network has been informed that at the Ramstein meeting last week, the German and Ukrainian defence ministers signed an agreement that also includes a joint industrial project for the production of Lynx in Ukraine. Rheinmetall will open the factory in Ukraine before the end of this year, according to information provided to Defence Network from sources usually well-informed.
>The exact number has not yet been disclosed, but Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger spoke last summer about a possible framework agreement for the delivery of several hundred Lynx vehicles to Ukraine. These will therefore soon roll off the production line directly in Ukraine.
