New Mirage for Ukraine
>President Emmanuel Macron announced that France will provide Ukraine with additional Mirage 2000-5F fighter jets in the coming days
>French newspaper Le Monde reports that Kyiv may ultimately receive between 12 and 20 Mirage aircraft, though the exact number remains undisclosed
France has already supplied five Mirage to Ukraine from February 2025 onward. They participated in combat as early as early March, intercepting and destroying a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile during a large-scale air attack. One of the Mirage was lost last July due to an accident
>France will also deliver additional Aster 15 and Aster 30 missiles for the SAMP/T MAMBA surface-to-air missile systems already supplied to Ukraine

A underpowered bomb truck is better than no bomb truck. Also started the ball rolling on Western jets other than the F16. Ukies might have Grippens in the air by this time next year.

I assume it's not even a bomb truck, but a storm shadow truck specifically. Better to have something for which they can get parts instead of those old variable geometry Su-24 monsters they somehow keep alive.
Anonymous No.64444589 [Report] >>64444591

Very true. 1970s Soviet fighter bomber with bodged on Tornado parts must be a maintenance nightmare. Mirage would be considerably easier.

AFAIK those Su-24 were a maintenance nightmare even in its best years when they were new. I'm not even sure how ukies keep them alive, since it's not like they could buy parts for them at the very least since 2014.

I doubt it, it's more likely Taiwan would be willing to sell some of theirs, seeing how they're phasing them out (like the HAWK batteries).
Greeks only sell/donate shit they genuinely don't see a need for, like 203mm howitzers or AK's.

I thought that I read somewhere that it was being speculated that these might be the C/D models and not the E models, but that in and of itself is a moot point anyway. But either way, hopefully SAAB gets its head out of its ass and actually starts pumping out the E/F models in decent enough numbers. I also think that Ukraine needs a platform similar to the Super Tucano to help alleviate the needs of AD

He's too holed up in his hidey-hole for that to happen. There's also the fact that he's "healthy enough" to outlive the next 2-3 US presidents. Plus, I think that if Putin were to be removed from power under less than what many in Moscow would consider a peaceful transition of power and there's confusion as to who is the "heir" then we'l start seeing the fiefdoms that make up Russia start to seriously consider breaking away from the rotting carcass that is Russia.

What we’re seeing worldwide is that no one can afford to do war at a high level (ie, Gulf War 1 and 2 or even Afghanistan) anymore. It’s been years of intensive warfare and neither side has solved their command management / officer corps issues. They’ve gotten better, but not transformative. Neither side can do anything more than small unit assaults and troops movements. Very limited combined arms. The air war remains static, frankly below the level of WW2.

Russia doesn’t have the officer corps and command systems to begin with but what about NATO countries? There’s no ability to seriously fund the creation of a Ukrainian officer corps and supporting structures. I realize that it takes a generation to raise a quality officer corps, but NATO countries have our own which should be able to be used for this purpose. Yet nothing.

Denys Davydov seems to think so. He has said multiple times that that is what happens. And not just airline pilots, actual military pilots too. I'm pretty sure there is a surplus of pilots to a smaller number of available jets right now.
