Questions That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread

I'm thinking about buying a piston operated upper but can't choose between LMT, LWRC, or PWS. PWS seems attractive due to being cheaper than the other two, I don't know how their long stroke really compares to short stroke besides more recoiling mass. As for LMT/LWRC, I'm more leaning towards LWRC since I've seen that LMT has some quality issues. I want to use the gun in a sort of IAR-ish role and use it with a FRT/super safety.

I'm hunting for a budget-ish Over Under shotgun, how are the Franchi Diamonds? There's one for $750, or would I be better off saving the extra for a used Browning Citori? I'm certainly open to other recommendations, my budget is as close to $1,000 as I can get.

They're not as nice as a Citori but they're better than 90% of the market at that price point. They're made in Italy, not Turkshit.

That said, I would prefer a used Citori or a Beretta Silver Pigeon. Another good choice is a Miroku Field or Trap model. Miroku is the OEM for the Citori, it's the same gun as a Citori just with a different name on it, and not as highly valued because the brand name is less well known than Browning.

if you want to treat your shotgun like a rifle cause thats what you are used to its fine.
if you actually want to treat it like a shotgun ghost rings are a negative.
the other thing is people who think slugs or 3 1/2 is what they want are going to stop thinking that after theyve used it.

Best beginner option is to get the Maverick or the 500 field-and-security combo that comes with two barrels. If you want to shoot slugs then get a rifled barrel, which will come with iron sights. The 590 is a dedicated combat model, you cannot get other types of barrels for it like you can the Maverick and the 500.
Anonymous No.64448600 [Report] >>64448644
>>64448561
I haven't tried it personally, but I am sure that it not look good if you strip it. The factory is not going to pay for nice wood and then cover it up with paint. It's not like there is going to be some awesome looking Walnut under there....it's going to be the cheapest shit wood imaginable. Now maybe you can make it look nice with enough work but I think the chance of coming out nice is pretty low.

Franchi is pretty good, basically anything is better than Turkshit. They can't afford to actually do proper hand fitting of internal parts at their prices, and if they charge a premium they just make the exterior look pretty, skip on fitment and pocket the extra money anyway.
>>64446659
Miroku is a good recommendation too. Highly slept on.
Used O/U shotguns have the resale value of milk. You can sometimes get them for only a few bucks more than a new Turk shotgun and it's a far better gamble with your money. Just look for any signs that it was owned by an idiot who could have done stupid shit like dry firing it a bunch of times.
>>64446656
Probably Galil, the big problem is that every 5.56 AK uses some special snowflake magazine pattern. A Galil ACE just uses AR magazines.
>>64447274
Yes, I never had any trouble shooting slugs with a bead sight but I really struggle to lead a target with ghost rings because of how cluttered the sight picture is. It isn't worth it for a do-all shotgun.

Another screw slot to support longer rails. Different receiver to let it use more handguards. Couple ounces lighter. Better charging handle. But the front nose looks slightly silly when using the integrated optics.

I would just go with the m1 for aesthetics if that matters to you, as for the charging handles most owners just switch it out for the corvus or manticore which is far better than m2 or m1 handle.

Save yourself the upcharge for an HK marked stock over an new production from same manufacturer. The older HK marked ones are worse stocks than the new ones.
They tend to fit looser and rattle. The new stock attach to a slimmer folding mechanism. And a lot of times the plastic is starting to soften and turn to oil.

As for how they shoot. They are heavier than any other stock out there for the mp5k, and the widest when folded.

What do you guys think about this short stroke dual-piston design?

blue = gas
orange = o-ring
red = spring

>gas enters block (3)
>gas pushes on the operating piston (1) and the timing piston (2) simultaneously, accelerating both
>since the timing piston (2) has a larger surface area, less mass, and a lighter spring, it accelerates faster, eventually going past the forward-facing gas vents and depressurizing the system, which ceases the acceleration of the operating piston
>there are extra safety vents at the extreme end of the operating piston's travel, which only vent very little gas under normal conditions

The advantages of this system are that the gas vents directly forward and may even vent into long tubes. Very delicate tuning may be done by increasing or decreasing the tension on the spring pushing the operating piston with a knob, shortening or lengthening the period for which the operating piston is accelerated.

Just learned about "gun belts" are these things legitimate or just a gimmick? Been edc'ing a 1911 for 15 years on normal belts in jeans and yeah i guess it "sags" more than if i wasn't carrying, but at forward tilt 3-4o'clock it's perfectly functional and i guess im also used to it

Has anyone who has carried on a normal belt for a long ass time switched to a dedicated "gun belt" and found it a marked improvement?

It allows for analog control of the gas setting with a knob on a thread. It's mostly self-regulating, since more gas will also move the timing piston faster (this could lead to a paradoxical condition where it stops cycling when you install a suppressor). The forward gas venting is advantageous, but not unique. There is only one extra moving part compared to a traditional system, that being the timing piston. It actually works a lot like the BCG on an AR.

Are retention straps going out of style or something? Been using the same nylon iwb holsters forever, and was thinking about getting something fancy to go along with my new gun, maybe leather, or some leather/kydex hybrid but the vast vast majority of anything iwb i see just does not have retention straps

Battle belts are a fuckin meme. Gun belts are real though it depends on your standard for normal belt. Your average normal belt is garbage. Like what you'd get at Walmart. But if your standard of normal is well above average then those belts are fine and you can use those for guns. It's a quality level thing if it's marked gun belt it's meeting a minimum. If it's just belt then it's anything.

Not that you really need to do that a lot on a O/U but why would that matter? Brittle firing pins on them? Dry firing is a non-issue for like 99% of centerfire guns.

Been out of the loop for over a decade. Who makes a good 11.5" barrel assembly with a non-f fsb installed. Alternatively, are the H&R complete uppers from PSA as fraught with QC issues as the rest? Before PSA shills screech, I'm 2/2 on uppers with canted sights and handguards and overtorqued barrel nuts from uppers I got from them in 2014-15.

CrossBreed holsters; anyone have any experience with them? I'm in the market for a new holster for my new edc. It's the same gun profile as my old edc, 1911. I carried my auto ordinance daily with https://elitesurvival.com/collections/holsters/products/inside-the-pant-clip-holster for over a decade and it was good, but with my shiny new 10mm broken in at the range, I figure it might be time to get something new holster-wise too.

So while I know there's a lot of things you can get online, I like being able to look at and touch things before buying them. My local bass pro has a bunch of "CrossBreed" 1911 IWBs 'the reckoning', 'minituck', and 'supertuck'. The reviews I've seen online are pretty mixed, I can't tell overall how much is anecdotal or autism, or legitimate problems. Any of you ever use any of them? how were they? I wanna go check some out at the store tomorrow, and hopefully leave with a new holster.

I don't know shit about belts, I got 2 belts, one that says Levi on it that I probably had since highschool, and a thicker one that says "India" on it that I probably got at walmart or costco at some point more than ten years ago . I mean I have more belts than that; like the shiny black ones for formal shit, but those are the only two belts I've ever worn holsters on, and both have been absolutely fine. Sure they both look pretty worn out, but aren't like flaking or cracking.

Is a "gunbelt" just a thicker belt or something? Is it uncomfortable? My usual daily wear belts are the 2 browns described above, and are pretty soft because of how long I've had em, also have punched more holes in them over the years, but as far as carrying; I'd just tighten my belt so sagging wasn't really an issue

have my Levi and "India" belt just been "pretty good belts" all along?

I just watched a perun video about guided missiles and he was talking about how the US was falling behind with Meteor and PL-17 compared to AMRAAM. He never mentioned AIM-174, not even once, although he did talk about the upcoming SACM and AIM-260. Is he retarded or is there a legitimate reason why AIM-174 might not be considered in a discussion about BVR guided missiles?
Anonymous No.64472166 [Report]
>>64472126
AIM-174 isn't really comparable to any of those except perhaps the PL-17. In terms of weight its 4-5 times heavier than them and dimensionally larger by far.
Anonymous No.64472314 [Report]
>>64472126
AIM-174, as an AAM, is a strategic missile for low maneuverability high-value targets like AWACS and airborne C2, and potentially ballistic missiles. It's not ideal for tactical targets.
I think the brass think that the AIM-120D with LO platforms bridges the gap fairly well while the AIM-260 is being procured and getting implemented on 5th gen fighters. The US is indeed behind, but not "falling behind," and the rest of its apparatus makes for the current lack of a long-range BVRAAM.

Own a G43X, G43, G19 and G42....G42 is the only one I carry regularly. I run it with MagGuts +1 extensions so you're getting 7+1 rounds in the gun with only 1/4 of an inch added to the length of the grip.

The G42 is one of the only .380 handgun designs I know that use the Browning tilting barrel design instead of the more commonly used blow back recoil system that make these small .380 handguns recoil worse than a compact 9mm handgun.

You can get rifles in the same size package shooting more potent rounds. you pay more for ammo vs shooting 9mm but you’re likely to have a longer rifle in 5.56, .300 blackout, or 7.62x39 already. Short barrel 5.56 isn’t great but it still shits on 9mm.

Also the main advantage of SMGs is being able to fire in full auto and dump bursts at a target at relatively close range. We can’t feasibly get full auto SMGs, so you lose the biggest advantage and then get the situation above. That said, FRTs and super safeties may be changing this.

In that case get the regular polonium. The k is shorter obviously and you lose some sound suppression.

I have YHM Resonator R2 and it’s one of the quietest .308 cans and also suppresses 5.56 very well. My other is a Polo K and it’s just over the cusp of being uncomfortable to shoot without earpro.
