The F2000 had an unironically really clever and awesome ejection system better than anything before or since, and I'd love to see someone modern copy it. But the rest of the gun was mediocre, and man was that trigger shit. Even the Aug was better, and that's before upgrading the trigger. I wouldn't mind buying one for a collection for the right price but I did not enjoy using it even vs the T7 or Aug, let alone something the RDB or MDRX which have genuinely good triggers and ergos. The dream would be some hybrid of like 2-3 bullpups including that one taking the best from each.

Ejection has nothing to do with being a good suppressor host or not anon. A bullpup in general might be considered nice with suppressors just because a gun that is short and with the center of gravity way back feels better and suffers less from having another extra 6-12" of metal hanging off the end, but usually when people refer to something as a "good suppressor host" they're talking about how well its gas system can handle more back pressure. Some bullpups are pretty decent some not but ejection is independent. The MDRX was a decent host thanks to its 6pos AGB but that was true whether you got it in FE or SE.

But also it doesn't really matter anymore anyway due to what you see in that picture, which is a hux flow through can. They perform well enough with very low bp that basically anything can run them. I have the 7.62 version and going from a high bp can to that eliminated gas face.

It is a tremendous shame how FN gave up on it. The rifle is mostly just a bog standard AR18 bullpup but its a very sound design with a nice take down and pretty sturdy build for being mostly plastic. Really just needs some basic imrpovements like a better trigger linkage, a bolt hold open and a way to easily remove the mag well gasket.

The way the whole barrel assembly just breaks away makes me think it'd be a great .300blk gun too.

Yep, and to be fair I don't think anyone had solved bullpup triggers yet for mass produced gas guns back in 2000. Keltec and DesertTech were still quite a ways from releasing theirs iirc. There were a few good euro ones but they were obscure custom manuals, super cool granted, there was some crazy kraut bullpup pump action where you pumped the grip and could get in chambered in 7mm mauser or 300wm and I heard the trigger was good too. But totally different area.

Still though it's all out of patent now, so someone could copy and improve on it themselves if they wanted.

There were like three different waves of renewed interest in bullpups in the 20 years after the F2000 came out and FN capitalized on any of them, they're one of the most frustrating gun companies out there because they just keep dumping perfectly good ideas since it's not immediate, safe contract friendly projects.

The MDRX was more of a diagonal ejecting gun, manufacturer's terminology aside. A true forward eject has a chute like the TKB-022PM, Kel-Tec RFB, and F2000. They're theoretically better because you won't even feel it even if they were ran with high backpressure. The Kel-Tec RDB combines an adjustable piston with a downwards gas path, so it's very comfortable suppressed.

downward ejection is only sometimes better for suppression, it depends on the wind and what you're doing.

people seem to forget that hot air travels upward and when the ejection port is pretty much right below your face all of that brap travels right up into your nose.

Wat? High backpressure without sufficient adjustment ability in the gas system means a gun won't run at all, and ime it runs them pretty hard anyway. And regardless of getting it cycling well, high bp inevitably means gas face, I've never tried any gas gun of any style that is so perfectly sealed a high bp can doesn't significantly increase what comes out the port and receiver for that matter. Only manuals can completely ignore it.

The real answer is just not to use a high bp can at all though these days except on manuals or special situations, there's no reason to anymore and will be even less over the next few years as even fancy flow cans plummet in price.

never ever seems to work well, even aside from always limiting your loads. Part of the reason the six12 revolver style got a lot of interest before some sort of internal shitstorm went down and killed it was the approach of being an auto without using mags so the whole spectrum of shotty stuff was supposed to work, even minis.

God lmao no it's a turkish shotgun of course it's trash blatantly ripping off the overall form factor as a selling point. What i find interesting though is that the F2000's ergos feel and form factor really good on a shotgun. I'd fuck with a properly made FN bullpup shotgun.

I'd go for a KSG double tube solution, and on top of that, pump forward instead of pump back loading. Very unorthodox but it'd solve a lot of issues with your hand slipping out in front of muzzle, and you don't really need that much capacity on a shotgun, it can be compact and handy and perfect for indoors and vehicle use without sacrificing anything.

agh, WORK really good on a shotgun, this halloween theme hurts my eyes, anyway, the F2000 is a comfy gun, it could take a few other calibers just fine.

i also like the F2000 ergos. it's kind of funny how they sidestep the whole "bullpups feel bad to use" by making its form so alien that you don't try to handle it like an AR. i thought the smooth and bulky form was weird at first, but it does guide you to handle it in a particular way that is very comfy as you said

I always figured one selling point for a bullpup shotty was using it with a suppressor, and it was practically designed with that in mind. With a salvo12 off the end your hand won't be at any risk. Your idea works as well though.

I still don't understand why a bullpup can't use a standard AR drop in trigger and put the transfer bar on the firing pin instead of the sear.
