All real lovers of weapons end up realising that antique arms and black power and precision long range shooting and good ethical hunting is the pure heart of our interests. Takes some longer to get there than others.

Most revolutionary arms were either clones of brown besses made with birmingham locks and even in the case of rifles that was true. You;d think if you cared about something you'd bother to educate yourself on it. I own more arms from the American was of independence tan you do and I'm not even American because you sepnt all your money on garbage like glawks and PSA ARs with out of date NV on it.

The longrifle was a uniquely American thing, though. Brits didn't take rifles seriously until the Peninsular War.

The Improvised Munitions Handbook has a guide on how to make it, but I don't know how good it is.

Also: it's not illegal to make BP as long as it is not an "industrial amount" or you are selling it (though I presume this doesn't apply to hell)

This quote is from Benedict Arnold praising Daniel Morgan's Rifles. No need for self-fellation.

There's a few youtube channels of blackpowder enthusiasts that detail how to make your own of a higher quality than commercially available for less money. BP is on my list, if I could find sulfur deposite near me then I'd be more motivated for a true, off grid experience.

BP is always there for you when you don't want to futz with firearm laws.

>Brits didn't take rifles seriously until the Peninsular War.
For what it's worth, rifles had a major shortcoming pre-Minié ball in that they're more awkward to load with round shot than a smoothbore, particularly as fouling builds up: a slower rate of fire gives the enemy more time to get into smoothbore range before you can get another shot off, at which point the smoothbore has superiority by rate of fire and your position is untenable.

Yes, loading a rifled musket before Minié Balls was cumbersome, which is why they primarily remained a sporting weapon for most of the time, while roundballs from a smoothbore were accurate enough to probably hit a man most of the time within 100yds.
The ease of loading and rate of fire was widely considered much more important by all militaries all around the world until the Minié Ball finally gave you the best of both worlds. Fast loading, and fine precision out to long ranges.

I only have a remington 1858 as firearm since being able to buy modern firearm is such a pain (legally)
at least black powder guns need no permit
