Orange camouflages well against green foliage. Most of the animals (mammals) are dichromats (red/green colorblind). It’s why tigers can get away with being orange. it’s a really convenient color cause it also makes you conspicuous to people. The benefit of camouflage doesn’t really apply to the birds though - they can distinguish between more colors than we can - but probably aren’t scared off by anything on the ground anyways.

Wolves are awful to live next to and they will interbreed with coyotes and dogs and become more aggressive. Reintroducing them into urban and suburban environments is a disaster that will require you to eventually kill and purge all of the wolves at some point in the future. NTA but I've never been intentionally shot at but I have had someone shoot a shotgun about 35-50yds away that sounded VERY loud. To this day I'm still not sure if it was in my direction or not. Never heard the shot rain down IIRC but I was in a forested valley while the plants were still green so I had quite a lot of cover between me and him. Wasn't intentional, I think they were hunting squirrels or birds up top in the grass field. I did hit the fucking deck and kept low as I went through that area, though. I forget whether I had earpro or not. If I did, I was using electronic muffs. Luckily I am now out of that overhunted hellscape of public land but I'm kinda bouncing between different spots burning a lot more gas than before trying to find one that will allow me access all year but still be relatively dead when it comes to other hunters. I try to keep out of the woods for deer but some seasons basically require you don't (ie. season start right before deer does and the likelihood of finding game in winter is about 1/20th of what you would get in early season). Also deer hunters, stop being like 20-60yds off the main trail that people fucking walk on and get surprised when someone comes along, seriously holy fuck. Walk a little further into the woods and take your phone out to see how far you REALLY traveled off the trail to plan out your spot days in advance. And dog hunters...I won't even get into those.

There's a good reason to wear fluro, as we call it in Australia, in any colour, to avoid accidents involving vehicles on trails and trail heads. And it's also important in search and rescue, if a hunter passes out from heat stroke, it's knocked out, how the fuck do we find an unconscious person who's wearing a ghillie suit? Yes, it helps avoid ending in the back drop of some other retard hunters back drop, bird shooters are famous for this because they're using shotguns aimed at the sky, and birds swing around. So if you're just fixated on this bird and are following it everywhere with your gun, you flag everyone, shoot low, and when there are 20 of these peanuts around the same lake all jerking off to a single duck on the water, chances of them taking each other's heads off with bird shot are pretty realistic.

So there's camo with orange flares, widely used, keeps you visible to other shooters. And there's a pocket high vis vest you wear out on the trail, just to avoid accident. Sick of almost running over drunk cunts in parks who are running around at night half camo, half naked, fully drunk, on the road.

Also, a trail is not a shooting break. For fucks sake, do not sit on one end of a trail with a high country folding chair, trying to shoot any animal which crossed the trail in front of you.
