Personally I feel its when you have firearms you dont ever shoot and not because the gun is an antique or ammo is hard to obtain. It's not right when a guns fate is to just live in the back of a safe. The exception I will make is is you have unused guns around but they are at least set up in a useful way and stored properly for a just in case you have to arm other people with them. My 2 cents
Also it was just his prerogative so I never bugged him about it but my stepfather would just buy guns just to buy them dozens of old pump shotguns all types of autoloader handguns rarely goes shooting and many of them hes never shot, no accessories for anything not so much as a sling or a spare mag no nothing. Even spare ammo 3 pistols in 40 s&w maybe a box and half of ammo between them. Or we go shooting clays bring my grandpa's old 16 gauge for fun. He sees purple shells. He's dumbfounded
I explain thats the color 16 gauge hauls are and that he has 2 16 gauge guns a pump and a double. "Huh I dont even remember buying those"
I could go on. Point is i think he should narrow his way to big collection down to rare guns and ones he actually uses so there

i have two pistols and two rifles. I'm thinking about another pistol but I can't justify it other'n I just want it. Might just buy another kilo or two of ammo to settle the thought.

I decided I had too many WWII bolt actions and then lucked into a free P14 and took it anyways. I can’t be assed to go to the work of getting rid of the ones I don’t give a shit about. I think I need to give about half of them to my brother, but he doesn’t have a safe and also has a baby, and I think you should keep your guns in a safe if you have a kid too little to teach how to safely handle guns, so nothing’s going to happen and I’m just going to continue to lament having guns I don’t shoot.

When you run out of space to store them in a safe (you don't want to leave them all lying about to get burgled away, do you?).

When you have more than 1-2 for the same purpose. Like I want to get a 1301 shotty, an A300, and a Benalli M4, but that's way too much 12ga. Realistically, only need one, and maybe a spare in case I lose the first somehow.

Also, if you you don't shoot all your guns semi-regularly, you prob have too much. Maybe make exceptions for historical firearms, to prevent wear on them, or the ammo is hard to get. But if you don't shoot it, do you need it?

For me it's 2 of the same type and caliber. So I can have a 12ga pump and a semi or a 12 and 20ga pump but I can't have 2 12ga pump actions, my autism says that's wrong. It doesn't even matter if the two guns are wildly different like an RPD and a SKS, my brain just sees two semiauto 7.62x39 rifles and says pick one

I once sold a CZ2075 RAMI because I never shot it anymore, and was new to guns and wanted a safety not a decocker version. The year after that, they discontinued it, and then I got into revolvers and now prefer a strong double action trigger. Fuck me.

Sometimes I think I would be happier if I had nothing but a backpack and it's contents. I look at the negroes in flip-flops and wonder how would it feel like to leave your entire life behind, cross Sahara and take a boat to another continent in search for a new life.

Pragmatic answer: When you have too many guns to reliably feeds. A gun with no ammo is useless.

Literal answer: When the number of guns becomes hazardous to your continued existence. If your gun planetoid has enough of a gravitational field to effect the tides, you should probably get rid of a few.

A gun you never carry or shoot is a gun you never should have bought

So shoot or carry all of them and you can have millions of guns. Have a 5 year daily handgun rotation cycle no one is stopping you.

Wrong.
Plenty of collector firearms will appreciate in value. Obviously, you have to know what to collect and acquire (in other words not be a retard and have a safe full of Glocks or boutique ARs)
Also obviously, nobody has to be a firearms collector if they prefer not to; just stick to the few basic tool-guns you need and use.
Some people also have certain firearms in their collection simply to appreciate alone (apart from any monetary/investment value) as a technical or historical milestone or example.

Another recipient of the Fell for It Award. I laugh at gullible idiots like you who moved here in a panic during covid. This state was always a shithole and only ever really intended for the people who are from and already used to its shittiness. Not morons who read the first result internet article when they googled "best places to live" in 2020-21.
