Sudan Thread
Post pics from and talk about Sudan. I might be able to answer some questions about the war in Sudan too, since I know a few people who spent time over there (or currently live there)

Is anyone on either side in Sudan even using artillery or armoured vehicles?

>either
There are three sides now to the conflict...
The RSF have armored Land Cruisers, but that is as close as you will get.

The Sudanese Army are using old T-55s and Type 62s. Type 59s, Type 80s, T-72s and M60s have also been noted as operational, but are not as commonly used. Additionally there is a plant in Sudan building BRDM-2s. As far as IMVs, the Sudanese Army use Humvees, M-ATVs and their own domestic IMV, the Sarsar. Artillery is M101s and M-30s both of which are being used defensively.

The RSF keeps its artillery under wraps, but the weaponry has been sent by the UAE, Libya and Israel via Mossad (though the Israeli government is actually funding the Sudanese Army).

As for the rest of the GUP the are foot soldiers, for the most part, perhaps some Libya does has some "ghost units" in the country, but there is very little information about them. Wagner also had a GUP regiment, but they were disbanded.

Also, GUP is Government for Unity and Peace (ironic as they just killed 2500 civilians).

The third side is the Sudan Liberation Movement and they have nothing more than AK-47s and Hiluxes/Land Cruisers.

Give it to me straight, chief. I'm an American neo-con; who do I support?

rsf are just all around ghoulish. they were the SAF's pet genocide miltia until they decided that they didn't like taking orders.

the SAF are massive pricks but the RSF are currently going house to house in a city they captured butchering people.

oh and they also basically exist as a UAE proxy for resource extraction, which is how they fund themselves. 0 political reason for an american to support it

Trump gave the ahead to take Sudan off the terrorism sponsor list in 2019, so I would side with the government given the stance.
>>64494671
China via UAE from what I can gather. UAE and China get gold (the whole reason why they are even vested in Sudan in the first place) in return. Libya is in on it too.

The UAE also has been recruiting Colombian mercenaries, which I guess should also be of note.

Pretty much as Satan said here, neither side is great, but the SAF are preferable.

Is the SAF even somewhat reasonable with regards to their treatment of civilians?
If so, what should the US do? Bomb the RSF?

Is Trump II pretty much the same as Trump I vis-a-vis Sudan?

not aware, but doubt it - remember that the RSF used to work with the SAF. they're not great, or good, or even really tolerable. the african (people the RSF hate) southern rebels (leftovers from the shit that spawned south sudan) decided to side with the RSF, to showcase.

still better than the RSF though.
>If so, what should the US do? Bomb the RSF?
yeah that'd be good.

Will Sudan split again?

How's Khartoum nowdays? Normal or still a clusterfuck?

How's the balance of power right now? SAF has a lot going for it + everyone hates the RSF but losing Al-Fashir is huge. Too close to tell? I'm guessing serious shit is about to pop off in El Obeid soon.

It's difficult for me to imagine these people even having the intelligence and cooperative inclination to maintain, fuel, and operate a tank

They were designed with crews that had already drunk themselves down to 80 IQ in mind, they can probably figure it out.

They actually upgrade their T-55s regularly.

>Will Sudan Split Again
GUP might break away, but should not, it is a proxy state of Libya and the UAE.
>How's Khartoum nowadays?
My contact in Khartoum says that it is relatively safe, but the drone strikes on the airport have put her one edge, especially since it was a couple of weeks from the airport reopening.
>How's the balance of power right now?
SAF is popular, somehow the coup wound up creating a fairer government for the people (far from perfect, though). The RSF is not super well liked apart from people who want the government to be pre-2018 in its conduct (which probably means they will come up with an excuse to wipe Darfur off the map). SLM is smaller and might be allowed to continue as a regional power, so long as they disarm, as they really only do self defense.
>>64494692
Trump II wants an agreement for Israel to send drones to Sudan in return Sudan creates a region for displaced Palestinians. The government rejected the idea because they said that it is not safe to relocate anyone at the moment. Something might be forthcoming, though.

For now, Sudan is building their own drones and reverse engineering Iranian ones inherited from the previous government to use in combat.

I mentioned above the Sudan-Israel relations are unsteady right now (since Mossad supplied weapons to the RSF while the Israeli foreign ministry is trying to support the SAF financially and with more Uzis for the troops), so it makes sense as to why the government is hesitant to work with a nation supporting both sides of a war.

Depends on how you define artillery I guess. About a year or so ago, RSF was using mortars to shell a city for weeks unending, to the point people were asking where they even got that many. But since there hasn't been much afterwards I think they burned their entire strategic supply doing so

Israel is in a sticky spot here. They technically have to at least pretend to be neutral, because they can't afford to alienate the UAE, their only reliable Muslim ally

That's a failure of your imagination then. Also these people are Nilotics and Nilotic/Asiatic mixed types, not some primitive ooga-booga Congoids out of West Africa or the Congo basin. Step up your racism game if you want to make it here on blue /pol/.

Pretty much this.

It also would not surprise me if the Chinese are also involved in sending their weapons to the RSF as a sort of proving ground. (A lot of the RSF drone fleet is Chinese by origin). This is speculative, but again, I would not be surprised if this came out to be true, as this is exactly what China is doing in Myanmar.
