Why don’t we see F-16s doing anything near the frontlines in the Russia-Ukraine war? It’s been months since no reports or footage. Are they being held back for training, or is there some strategic reason for keeping them away from the active zones?

Ukraine has been using PGMs like the Hammer and JDAM-ER for years. With different platforms

The USSR built a shitload of SAMs so now both sides have a shitload of SAMs making airspace near the front a dead-trap.
Both sides are yeeting glide bombs and AGMs because they lack the HARMs to run DEAD.

Two days ago a key producer for spare parts for it got hit with a massive cyberattack. They already had problems because their specialsied machinetools were all from the West and they had more access to spare parts. Now the software side is completely fucked and they can't fix it without western tech support.

Tl;dr. what few Su-57s they made are all literally on borrowed time now. They can't make several critical components for it anymore.

The MiG-29 is considerably heavier and most people didn't operate it with external fuel tanks.
The modernized -29 is considerably more 'well rounded' (including the radar, even it isn't good at least it doesn't breaks each 10 hours)

Why would we at most they're used for anti-drone warfare. The minute those F-16s get close to the front they will by smitten by newer Russian jets. You have to keep in mind the F-16s Ukraine has are block 15's, which the last one was made in like 1980 or some shit.
