A minor fight, not even of real notice to the Brits.
They left the half wits and incompetents to fight while the real army was out stomping Napolean.

The war only picks up after Napoleon
There was a pretty bug freak out over it in the US when it happened.

Really have to give credit to the British campaign in the south. Like it's a huge logistical feat when you look at what kind of terrain and environment they were dealing with

That being said, American sailors did damn well for what they had. But yes I agree Britain won the war.

They only stopped grabbing sailors(most of which were born in Britain) because the war with Napoleon was over. Not because they were beat by the US. US also failed to take Canada(again)

Japan was part the Entente in WWI. They mainly fought against German held territory in China.

Yeah, only the brits also won most other battles of that war, and got exactly what they wanted out of it. (IE, getting the retard colonials to stop chimping out for no fucking reason.)

They had already stopped impressment by the time the US started the war.

Britain didn't even understand why the US didn't start offering peace deals when Napoleon surrendered. They sent 10x more men to defend Portugal than fight the US

The War of 1812 isn't remembered at all in Britain as it was just a cowardly American attempt to subjugate Canada while we were busy fighting 18th century Hitler.

Was the War of 1812 the last time a Native American force could defeat the US on the battlefield and potentially even go on the offensive?

It seems like after Tecumseh everything was defensive and focused on irregular tactics.

Wtf even was the war of 1812 over? Trying to remember my shitty American grade-school education and all I can recall was something about impressment of American sailors.
Was the entire war about that?

>UK restricting US trade with France, because Napoleonic wars
>UK support of natives opposing US expansion into northwest territory
>impressment of US sailors, justified as reclaiming deserters from their own navy
>US didn't want to look like cucks just letting the royal navy pluck crewmen from their own ships like that
>regarding the whole Canada thing, the motive is debated: it might have been intended as a bargaining chip to be returned in negotiations rather than actual annexation, but on the other hand that might just be post hoc cope after failing to take it

More specifically, american sailors ran a widespread scam at the time. They hired on with the Royal Navy on the day before whatever merchant ship they were working on was set to depart, took the signing bonus and then just left with their ship next day instead of showing up at the RNs warship. Brits were bitching about it for like a year or two straight before starting impressment.

Literally not kidnapping. And also literally stopped before the colonials started chimping out.

So in other words, missed its actual objective in this opportunistic landgrab they tried while the bongs were busy with Napoleon.

You can't start up a "Great Game" with Russia and fail to see the issues with using proxies against America.

They humiliated Britain both in their home waters and abroad, and they forcefully dissolved every barrier to their expansion.
If Britain had succeeded in taking Baltimore, it would've committed to a land invasion. They were denied a solid foothold.

Yes because the war ended with a series of British withdrawals, defeats and concession of land and abandonment of their native allies to their destiny.
Canadians are too poorly educated to know anything but Washington and New Orleans.

Nobdy was "using proxies" against the US. Being friendly to the locals is not some grand conspiracy.

>They humiliated Britain
Getting your capital burned and giving up the war without achieving your principal objective means you humilated the other side?

>If Britain had succeeded in taking Baltimore, it would've committed to a land invasion.
Cool story, bro. Meanwhile over in reality, Britains war goal from the first day of the war to the last was to simply get the idiot colonials to stop chimping out at them. And that's exactly what they got after beating down the colonials until they agreed to stop chimping out.

>>64498020
>Yes because the war ended with a series of British withdrawals, defeats and concession of land
Except, you know, it ended with a british victory (fun fact, muh New Orleans wasn't the last battle of the war outside of yank copium), the US buckling under and signing a peace deal that gave Britain all it had ever wanted right from the start and not a single inch of land being "conceeded".

That line didn't fool 1850s Russia. It won't fool us.

The capitol was worthless at the time. The infinite expanse of land to the west was valuable beyond measure. Scaring British insurers with the "Complete and total blockade" shitpost is priceless.

They were looking for proof that they could push the war further, as evidenced by their attacks on Baltimore and New Orleans.
