Are operators any different than the majority? What truly sets them apart from a very experienced man that has been to war and fought?(example would be those fighting in Ukraine today)

I get special forces get all types of various training and fancy equipment, but mentally and physically are they more capable than an infantry soldier who has been to war and seen shit? (Multiple deployments)

I cant see them being that far above anyone else, deep down they are only human. I have seen and met prisoners who have shot multiple people, stabbed people etc.. for many killing is an easy job I've come to notice if the price is right - how would these people fair if given the same training?

I'm genuinely curious on what you guys think.

SEALs are pussies, if that's what you're asking. They get to slam gear and get tons of privileges. They get airlifted to and from wherever they're going. They rarely die and rarely get maimed in the way we often did. SF guys are cool. They bought a couple of goats for us on Christmas and cooked them up. SEALs can eat a dick.

That's not the first time I've heard that, I've heard from family that has served and even friends that SF guys usually get looked after well.

They get whatever food they want, they get a gym with full equipment on deployments etc.. They also get to shoot on the range a lot more.

>Are operators any different than the majority
special forces have different training and different organization

> but mentally and physically are they more capable than an infantry soldier who has been to war and seen shit?
their training better prepares them for their job

> deep down they are only human.
humans who were trained for a specific purpose and are therefore better at that job

>I'm genuinely curious on what you guys think.
special forces have more specialized training, which tends to have more exacting mental and physical standards

>that failed Ukrainian raid behind Russian lines recently that ended with one of their Black Hawks being merked by a drone

Did it really? It wasn't a raid behind enemy lines, they were dropped next to the last corridor to the city still controlled by ukies, to clear all the rats that slipped through the lines and allow the rest of the infantry there to escape. And they didn't loose a single heli as far as I know. Even ruskies on their telegrams say that the videos of ukie SF getting hit with drones and artillery aren't legit because the hours and weather doesn't match up.

Their action might as well be a distraction, as ukies launched a small counterattack north of the city. Looks like they accepted defeat in the south and are focusing in the north.
Ruskies claim they captured 700 defenders. As always, may we see them?

From what I understand, the standards transcend ability and go to a deeper level of respect. The instructors job isnt to break the candidates, their job is to watch and ask themselves "Would this man get the job done if I died?" In other words "Would I die for this man?"

Its about a different mindset, usually also some lack of self awareness and/or actual stupidity. Modern 'operators' probably wouldn't last too long in a conventional conflict. They are like one of roided gym fags compared to someone all natural. Most of their shit is show and not actual, functional battlefield utility.

>What truly sets them apart

Durability and being able to handle stressful situations. Most guys quit selection because their body is too sore and they don't want to be stressed out. You want the hardest men to do the hardest missions.

>Durability and being able to handle stressful situations.

I've seen men who work 16 hour days, 7 days a week in concreting, and some that have dealt with very bad and stressful situations.

Lots of those "sf" guys are very young, these guys I'm talking about are mid 30's /40's still breaking their backs.

A lot of US vets that fought in Ukraine got to taste how meaningless SF qualifications were in actual peer to peer engagements.
Of course this was due in part because of the inexperienced leadership of the foreign legion, making operators sit in random trenchlines to get GRAD striked; but that's kind of the point
You can't have special forces operations without a rock solid infantry corps, and the overall effectiveness of SF is limited by their mission set and conditions on the ground.

As an aside, GWOT door breachers thinking they're the hottest shit Satan ever took and immediately whining on social media the nanosecond they faced an enemy that actually fired back will never not be funny to me
Anonymous No.64500213 [Report]
I wouldn't trust a person that willingly gets a job where he can kill people for money. I think most people aren't able to actually do it in cold blood. I wonder if there are some scientific studies on military professionals or on military people that are experienced with killing other people.
I assume most people at war just shoot somewhere at the enemy's direction and hope they don't get killed. The special operators, on the other hand, are selected killers. The same is correct for attack drone operators that find joy in hunting and killing people.
Probably the studies would find they have a higher degree on the psychopathic scale than a normal person.

You've obviously never done concreting, you cant work "slow". Are you mentally retarded?
I've done it for 3 years, i worked with men that were 12 / 18 years in, pushing wheel barrows that weight over 330 - 400lbs up a steep incline over a plank.

The mentally and draining work they were doing day in and day out, while dealing with the stress of life and mortgage was far harder than getting smoked in "PT".

Nothing is different except gear and mission set. SOF gets more support systems and everyone in the networks is serious about the mission and has high morale. That is the key difference. If I am being honest, the actual Soldier is irrelevant past a certain threshold. Yes the selection process ensures the individual meets that threshold but there are tons of people who met it but simply don't want to deal with the bullshit being perfectly happy in their current place.

Apples and oranges. I worked as a deckhand for one of them big bulk carriers, and it was the worst bits of construction mixed with sewage technician. Even has a taste of the irregular schedule whenever you have to cross a canal or put into port. Difference from selection was, no matter hectic things got, you always had time to blow off steam afterwards. You don't get that for a month or two with a selection.

I'm interested in the psychological factors that make the ideal soldier (because you can get any retard super fit, but that won't make them SOF material)
A common thread I hear from vetbros online is that in selections they mostly look for things like teamwork, initiative and drive, but that's hardly a complete profile
What kind of personality does the perfect operator have?

SOCOM and JSOC utterly curbstomped the Taliban, and conventional military swept up the remains after them. It wasn't even close to a fair fight
The reason we stuck around for two decades wasn't because we needed two decades to beat them, but because we tried to nation build in a place that has no concept of, or interest in, a national identity. And so when we decided "looks stable enuff" and decided to leave, Taliban simply poured back in from Pakistan and took the country, because the Afghan government crumbled immediately
