I always hated it when mechs move fast and jerky like that.
Mechs are all about vibes. They should be slow and hulking and COOL. Gundam always was goofy because of that to me, the space fights in particular.
Metal Gear speed mechs are as fast as you can go and still have them look cool.

Counterpoint: Mechs are inherently unrealistic, so in fiction they should go all in on the cool factor, and big and hulking is peak cool factor. That's personally why I never liked Real Robot type mechs, always looked too goofy in action for me.

It's a matter of cinematography. To match real world perception mechs need to appear slower at longer distances and faster at shorter differences.
