Depends what interactions you're talking about. Not saying you don't pass because I don't know you. If it's service workers for instance, they're much more inclined to not cause a scene and keep things running smoothly. If a friend introduces you to their friends, they're not going to want to make your friend look bad by being an asshole to you etc.
At least for me, I got for the full honest approach.
