The West Coast is gorgeous, but to be honest, it’s too… spread out for me. Further, proper, walkable small towns are more of a rarity.
As a lifelong resident, I think the Mid-Atlantic is the best part of the United States to live in.
We are within driving distance of several major cities, the infrastructure (rail, internet, highways) is solid, there’s plenty to do, we get all 4 seasons, and most folks are either liberals or “live and let live” conservatives.
