Being trans in inherently political. Other than that, people just treat this like a blue /pol/ sometimes.

This is bullshit. Who I am has nothing to do with politics

Social engineering.
If you degrade politics by turning into some pop topic and then allow it to morph into shallow team sports what you have is a population that is talking about nothing at all and fighting over it.
It is basic status quo maintenance via stagnation. People don't flip cars and drag politicians out of their homes when they're busy obsessing over trannies or gooning over Hasan Piker and calling themselves women.

You're both sort of right. All social identities are necessarily political in some sense, but personal qualities like being trans aren't strictly political. However, transness as a social identity obviously possesses a range of political associations in public discourse, and this has unfortunately forced many people who otherwise may not have been inclined to be politically active to fight for and protect themselves in a political capacity. I am wary of the idea that being trans is inherently political because social/political conceptions of transness feed somewhat into the current RW idea that it's not a quality pertaining inherently to a person's experience of themselves but rather a social contagion and a construction of progressive ideology.

Politics is interesting when the country is actively being destroyed by one party, we're directly funding mass-child murder, and a war in the middle-east seems to be starting. But most people aren't interesting in politics, still. At best they watch someone dunk on trannies or dunk on Trump then move onto some NPC media.

Politics has a lot of fun stupid quotes and stories, that’s most of the appeal, analysis is fun even if stupid and unable to affect the real world

the presence of government in most people's lives these days means that people's daily lives are actually affected by politics. especially people who are politically contentious like troons

The political informs everyone's way of life kind of by definition, but I also don't really think about politics that often. I understand people who do though

when your existence itself is treated as a debate with importance on the same scale as the rise and fall of nations, you tend to get in a lot of politically loaded arguments (or become subjects of them), and you develop a political standpoint either by adsorbing from those arguments or through studying to cover your stance better.

if being lgbt wasnt made into the political issue of the century by altright genetic dead-ends we wouldn't have had to arm ourselves ideologically.
