i went from not passing to passing to not passing again while living in the most trans accepting place on earth. people can be very mean to you for no good reason it makes me sad. i dont buy the "literally every single person is being nice" excuse

I am a tranner who says this and who has almost every person who knew me from the beforetimes say I don't pass

The problem is, they remember exactly what I used to look and sound like, and they may even have a vested interest in continuing to think of me as a man, so they are unable to be objective arbiters of my passability. I also have serious doubts about whether someone who has viewed hundreds, if not thousands, of pictures of trans women is also able to judge the passability of a trans woman in the same manner that most everyday people would

most people (especially workers) are just auto piloting throughout their day and not really thinking that deep. even if what you said was the case, it wouldnt be literally every single person, and certainly not situations like people yelling from their car

I agree with you. it is so amusing to me that there are people who seem to think that we live in such a compassionate and empathetic world that people are making sure that they put thought and consideration into their (often brief) interactions with tranners. even more amusing that these people are often cynical, sardonic, or jaded otherwise. how does one hold such a beautiful view of the inherent kindness of humanity while shitposting on 4chan? it's endlessly amusing to me

Yeah, people usually do that. But when I give tranners advice on hairstyles/clothing/grooming with the male gaze perspective they get all weird about it and freak out (7/10 times)

your post is more grounded in reality in my view. there are plenty of people who don't care to validate tranners, even in very accepting areas

it also addresses a different question from the OP's. your post speaks to the different ways that people define passing. some have a strict definition of it (i.e., passes to every person in all contexts) whereas others have a loose definition of it (i.e., passes to most people in many contexts)

women have a HUGE HUGE biological difference from men. for a guy to start HRT at even age 16 is already going to be hard. women are fuckin full of estrogen and have so many things going for them that make them look womanly; thousands of years of evolution for one.
