the current trendiness of overlabelification is a plague on our society. i think its a symptom of the same problem that produces tons of theyfabs though---genz seem to define themselves from the standpoints of "unique" traits that are really groupings (anything that makes them quirky--fandoms, niche political ideology, queerness, childhood trauma, top/bottom, etc), oppression level, and their likes/dislikes, so that they can derive self value, because they cannot just be a person--they must be an "individual", as though those two categories are mutually exclusive. It's really sad desu, just be the person u are.
