Grandpa taught me as a kid, so I knew how the pieces move and basic opening ideas, like occupying the center and developing.
Didn't play much after until covid, but always best in my class for indoor recess on rainy days.
It's not so much that I have openings memorized. It's more that I am familiar with certain structures and if you make an early blunder in a normal position I've played a thousand times I will know to think really hard about if I have a tactic to win material or if you made something weak.

I would say relative to my rating I'm particularly strong at board vision and "feel", my biggest struggles are over estimating my advantage (particularly as black) and calculation.
Go doesn't have a big enough fan base in the west, it would be cool to try.
