Well firstly there aren't any symmetrical parts of the human body so that's untrue. I won't argue what amount of difference above 0 cm/inches constitutes "symmetrical", that's subjective. Probably for the same reason people are afraid of insects and other alien looking creatures, their many foreign parts signal less awareness of to the brain and an inclination towards caution.
