then my family collapsed my last yr of hs (i went to mira loma) and we had to live in the del paso heights slums; walking distance from the thrift town thriftstore that appears in the 2017 film Lady Bird

my mom had a stroke just after i started hrt; i had no family or friends but i got close to a guy on pso2 and he spent $10k to move me to philadelphia to save my life and give me a chance at my dreams; even though he knew i wasnt straight

california sucked for me except for some of school; especially my first love; and highschool actually wasnt that bad; i got into a girl friend group before i came out and they all treated me so much better than my gamer friends ever did; they used my name and pronouns and i got to lay in the grass in a couple of my friends laps and theyd braid my hair at lunch :)

should have went after Aimee instead of Stephanie ;-; and i shouldnt have ruined my chance with the first Jennifer;she was the 2nd person in my life i saw the goddess through; and my feelings completely paralyzed me; i would tear up and almost faint every time i saw her in the hallways; i declined into morbid suicidal depression over her; and i probably would have had some chance if i wasnt so socially crippled and introverted back then; i failed every class that first year

its actually pretty chill if you dont need lots of flashy bightlife entertainment; the train museum and old sac downtown is awesome; the main malls arent bad; the kings get fun to watch once in a while when they have a good set of players (i only cared about nba very briefly); soccer is growing

but there is a significant homeless problem especially around certain areas and along lightrail routes; it could be improved but most of the cheaper rental housing ends up gouging low incone ppl; in 10 years living at my slum apartment with my mom our rent incresed by more than 50%; with zero improvements to the building or property; budbugs and roaches not addressed etc; but that was like ultraslum if your going for school you wont be anywhere near that area; most regular more modern apartment complexes and even older ones in non-slum/crime areas will be clean and fine with no issues; and one nice thing is most people in sacramento are pretty friendly; neighbors will actually get to know eachother some etc; its safe enough for kids to olay around the neighborhoods (just NOT where i lived; there were shootings all the time; stay away from del paso unless your just passing through)

i believe north sac and west of there (not across the river) are the lousier areas; but pretty much everywhere else is fine; with a few run down old area exceptions

the less low income areas and medium income areas; especially near bigger schools where youll probably be; should be fine; though i dont know alot about the outer areas that have been in development for years; never went over there

if you want to get a feel for things i would say check out the local nbc and pbs tv stations they have good local stuff covered; also good day sacramento the morning show shows lots of local businesses and events going on; fun to watch; many memories of that being on tv in the mornings and them showing farmers markets and the local anime convention etc

despite being a relatively big city, pretty tight-nit, which I like about the city. When most people talk about the nightlife here I assume they talk about the normie clubs I don't really go to except the gay clubs sometimes. Places like Harlow's or Old Ironsides do monthly goth nights though, there's like 2-4 of them a month at this rate and I kind of love that. You go to one club and chances are you'll see a lot of familiar faces at the next one.

As for the kink scene a lot of the actual parties you kind of need to know someone to really get into, unfortunately there aren't really any venues you can go to and do kink shit at so it's a lot of parties hosted at people's houses. But I've made good friends in both scenes and I wouldn't wanna live anywhere else because of it.

Actually the best Mexican food happens inside of San Diego are in parts of Los Angeles. But it's such an oversaturated market, which leaves the door open for a lot of bad Mexican restaurants. Add to that the fact that the drug cartels use Mexican restaurants as fronts money launder their drug money and those restaurants usually have shit food.
