Trump and Bibi have never really gotten along behind closed doors. Trump does a lot of theatrics to make his Israeli donors happy, but Trump viewed Bibi's reaction to the 2020 election as a deep betrayal and never forgave him for it.
In fairness to Bibi, there was really no other politic way to react, but Trump saw Bibi's casual acceptance of the official result as being much too quick, after the first Trump administration did so much for propping up Israel's credibility.
Trump also seems vaguely aware that he is presently paying a more difficult to calculate price for siding with Israel. So anytime Bibi slips off the leash or away from 'the plan', Trump gets furious. He naturally feels the US is paying for all this and therefore should be dictating terms of engagement, which Israel would never agree too.
But the AIPAC money and, in all likelihood, Mossad, is what keeps Trump in power, so he has to put up with it. It just gets more tense as time goes on.
If the US were a bit smarter, both parties would align to let the Mid-East cripple Israel once and for all and let them deal with the fall-out.
But that would only save the taxpayers billions while leaving a hole for campaigns to fill, and that would be more difficult to manage to further and maintain established careers.
One interesting note about the Trump administration is that it is so packed with neocons that have gotten fat from AIPAC money that, once its over, AIPAC will have fewer people to fund. Theres no one left in either party with the AIPAC investment or future clout to matter much.
So to Trumps credit, although it was probably unintentional, he gave so many neocons jobs that this administration will probably be the last neocon generation for a while, and has hand-cuffed them enough that, but for a few nuclear sites in Iran that will be back online in a few months, they didnt really accomplish much. Soon the world focus will be back on Gaza, and Idt its going to go well for anyone.
