>>40262057Hi, I’m the other guy. Again, I’d like to remind you that you wrote “Lesbian relationships have the lowest rates of domestic violence among all women,” not “lesbian relationships are significantly safer.” I understand now what you’re trying to say by that given the expanded context, but if we’re addressing the literal interpretation rather than your intention, then the study directly contradicts you. The study addresses “lesbian women” and permits self reporting, so these are women that currently consider themselves to be lesbians, not even bi, as that is another option. These lesbians report a higher rate of domestic violence victimhood than self reported heterosexual women. As we both agree these reports correlate to relationship statistics, we have to acknowledge that women in lesbian relationships report a higher rate of domestic violence than heterosexual women. Again, this is distinct from other statements you could make, such as “men perpetrate more domestic violence against women than vice versa,” which would be true. “Lesbian relationships are significantly safer” is probably too vague and relative to prove or deny, it’s simply a poor statement drawn from a generalization.
Speaking of, generalizing previous heterosexual women that currently engage in a homosexual relationship “closeted lesbians that just haven’t realized it yet” is obviously absurd, to the point that we don’t have to discuss it, as we both know what you’re doing. I still wanted to address it though. My sister dated a woman, then married a man, divorced, and is now dating a different woman. She self reports as lesbian, then straight, then lesbian, as she’s still figuring herself out. Don’t box people into your teamsports if you actually care about their choice.
