does anyone *actually* think this shit is better than the ole fashioned rainbow? the entire meaning of the rainbow symbol is that it represents everyone of every "color" (figuratively and literally) but the more you specifically represent the less it represents as a whole. at what point will it just become a collage of every other pride flag out there?

It is highkey racist to put black people on the flag it is so othering. it's like having a sign that say "All races welcome, even black people!", like wtf do you mean??? The entire point of the rainbow is to represent everyone, that's why it's an everyone, "everyone + black people (not even an lgbt thing!?) + trans people + intersex people) both undermines the entire point of the original design and implies that those groups weren't included in "everyone" to begin with. I'm white but I have a black gay friend who feels the exact same way about it and hates it even more than I do and it makes me feel very validated in my opinion.

it is like the epitome of shallow liberal virtue signalling. misses the point so badly it's actually offensive to the groups it's meant to be inclusive toward, and is ugly as all hell to boot.

of course we should remember our black community and of course we should acknowledge and be aware of how they suffer from racism and of course that is something everyone should be thinking about and aware of, but as soon as we put it on the flag it's like what are we doing? no stripe for hispanics? no stripe for native americans? why don't we have a special acknowledgement for the disabled members of the queer community, and all the unique struggles they face? is it ableist that we don't have a stripe for disability? it doesn't make any sense. it breaks the design.

Of course we should uplift and support the black community but the flag thing is so misguided it's insane.

i don't think this is true. i am an ultra left wing tranner and i don't blink at the rainbow flag i prefer it. if you wanna show support for trans people than just have a trans flag too, you can have more than one. any time i see someone flying the "progress flag" it feels like a half hearted attempt at pandering but whenever i see an actual trans flag it always makes me so happy. especially in store windows and stuff like that. just hanging a rainbow flag AND a trans flag is the way to go.
