It depends on what you want out of the headset. The easiest thing to recommend it for is if you want a movie theater screen experience for one anywhere you go, you can definitely get that. And with bigscreen, as long as everyone has their own headset, you can watch movies with others in VR. I loved watching anime in my Quest 2 even with the pretty noticeable screen-door effect, and the Quest 3 display is a lot better than that. I watched Squid Game season 3 on it and it was great. The screen-door effect is not entirely gone, but it's reached the point where unless I'm trying to see it, I won't notice it. If you watch a lot of movies and you want to watch them on a big screen but don't have the space, I think it's worth it just for that. Just think of it as a TV.

In terms of games, besides free, fan-made browser games I've played like Attack on Titan and Spider-Man, I've only played RE4, Microsoft Flight Simulator, and Beat Saber, not because I don't like the VR, but because I generally don't buy games often. I've only played RE4 on the Quest 2 and not my Quest 3, I also never played the beginning of RE4 before playing it in VR. It was so much scarier than I expected in VR. Being there and having villagers attack you is a crazy experience. My brother, maybe because he's played RE4 before didn't seem too scared, but maybe it was also because he was using the teleport movement mechanic instead of regular joystick running. He got farther than I did, and he also thought it was fun.

For sims, I think VR is one of the best things you can do to increase your immersion. I've never tried a wrap-around display, tobii eye tracking, or multi-screens for sims, so I can't say how it compares to those. But if it's VR vs. a single normal screen, VR is a no-brainer. For Beat Saber, custom tracks from mods are pretty much essential for me because few of the official tracks are anything I would want to listen to. Beat Saber is definitely a work out with higher difficulty beat maps. I recommend a fan with a high flow rate while playing. And I've hopped into VR Chat, but I don't have anything to say about it since I've spent very little time in it. Likewise for Skyrim VR, modding Skyrim can be a time-consuming pain in the ass, so I haven't actually played it in VR with any mods, but I aim to at some point.

For the cons, battery life in games isn't that great on the Quest 2 or 3. The default strap will probably be uncomfortable after a while as well. I ordered a strap that is apparently pretty comfortable, but it won't be here for about a week, so I can't say. But it also has a battery attached that will double the time I can use the quest without having it connected to a charger.

It will sound rude but if you need to ask it is not, VR is still forming and the way it is being handled makes it apparent companies still don't know what to do with it, like the internet on the 90's, they gave us this awesome tech so we can create and collectively help it reach maturity.

It is great as a creation tool, even the less adcanced sets with 2 inside out 6dof controllers plus an HMD with spatial recognition allows you to see the virtual world from a completely different perspective and give you unprecedented control of the virtual world; for instance, normal interaction relies on context sensitive prompts, that means, press a button(or combination of buttons) to make your avatar do something, that makes it feel like a disconnected interaction, a relay, however on VR you can program actual button presses, pulling levers, turning cranks and wheels, if you can find joy in that then yes it will be worth it, there's no much software so you'll need to either leave it behind or start creating yourself so if you expect pure entertainment for it then go into it with that in mind.

Also, I only talk about the Quest 2 and Quest 3 because those are the only VR headsets I have experience with because they are the best value headset. To anyone reading this who has a much more liberal budget, the best headsets are the Beyond 2 and potentially the future Play for Dream MR.

The quest 2 also has a chromatic aberration issue because of the nature of the Fresnel lenses, and sometimes a glare issue.
