For context I am 28. I moved to a new city a couple months ago and ive been trying to make some trans friends my age.
Whenever it comes up about when I transitioned (at 18), the other trans girls instantly get cold. It’s noticeable. then they always stop talking to me :(

Let me know if you figure it out. I am dealing with a similar circumstance for very different reasons.

I got a job making a fuck ton of money and now I can't "celebrate" anything positive with anyone I know because they just get jealous and bitter about the money I'm making.

The only solution I've found is to surround myself with other people making a lot of money which sucks because I would like to stay "grounded" in some sense but it seems like that will be impossible.

Here's the trick: when you want to go hang out with your poor friends, you take them out to a local bar or to a shit-tier restaurant like Applebees. I know it's not top shelf stuff, but you're there to celebrate, not for fine dining. You don't rub the money in their face. Well it's not all about passing. For some, it might be the lost years. Like, you transitioned at 18, if they transitioned 10 years after that, their bitterness might be derived from thoughts like "I spent 10 more years than her living as someone else. I have 10 less years living my authentic self before I die." Some people have trouble moving past such thoughts. Some people take that frustration out on others instead of internalizing it (which isn't healthy either but it doesn't result in harming their relationship with you.)

I didn't presume they didn't know about DIY, just that they didn't GET it because of repping. That said, from personal experience? I tried to stay as far away from trans spaces back then as possible to facilitate the rep, I thought hanging around with or empathizing too much would make me troon out (which yeah no shit) and basically didn't know a damn thing about 'online trans communities.' So while yeah, I knew about grey market drugs in theory, I had no awareness of the availability/cost of HRT via those means, or that it was even something people made at home.
