Don't let people shame you for how you feel about yourself and your self image :< even if disliking your ethnicity isn't equivalent to gender dysphoria. It's still a valid feeling. Maybe you can dye your hair or get contacts if you like the look, use slightly paler makeup than your constitution etc.

Why do you hate yourself for being asian? They're usually pretty and thin and smart and age well. They almost never become homeless or drug addicts or have single parents. Also asian countries are moving up in the world and they outearn whites in our own countries. They kill themselves less often. They commit less crime. They have much stronger ethnic self-concepts and pride than white people. I hate being an inferior woid

Sorry for not clarifying initially, but I'm pre-everything. No HRT, no SRS, definitely no social transition. Just "hey I think I hate masculinity and wanna try out femininity" to a few trusted friends (and none of my unsupportive parents) + the occasional crossplay for which I don't look good.

I remember my mom being controlling of my hairstyle as a kid and not letting me even TRY growing my hair long

My aunt (mom's sis) was my barber for the first 12 years of my life

Incidentally, every woman on my mom's side of the family has short Chinese Karen haircuts, so honestly wouldn't even be surprised if they gave me shitty Asian bowl cuts too even if I were born female

Like, they threatened to take my iPad away if I didn't obey them and go with them to haircuts

It sucked, and while some progress HAS been made, they still control me today in a lot of ways. And they remain transphobic, having even voted for Trump in 2024. Ideally things would be better, but it's 2025 and the job market sucks ass. Trying my best to change that, but for now, I'm stuck with mom.

Should also mention that even after I was 12, my subsequent (and current) barber was also ethnically Chinese (and a Mainlander... and a Protestant). And he was also in my face about how shit I'd look if I were to grow my hair long.

Unfortunately, I probably wouldn't come anywhere near passing at present EVEN IF my hair were perfectly like any of those women. (And trust me, I've tried using wigs, filters, etc.) I've got a deep voice, shit skin, facial hair, a masculine body shape, etc.

Maybe if I had more support, or if I'd socially transitioned at a younger age, like elementary school, things could've gone significantly better. Just look at Kim Petras.

i think its interesting that indigenous Americans who have the same hair type also have a deep culture around long hair much like the han, Asian hair is just better suited to be long bc its low maintenance

Also I'm assuming you're a femanon since again, there's no way a kid with that restrictive of an upbringing would have parents even remotely tolerant of same-sex relationships.

A lot of libs cope about ancient Chinese culture being more accepting of what we'd now call LGBTQ before the evil colonists arrived and ruined it, but that's massive cope imo. Remember, we're talking about a society that practiced footbinding and restricted women from appearing outside of their homes, which is pretty much Afghan levels of misogyny.

Honestly I'm not sure if I'd rather be a white American man or a Chinese American woman if I were forced to choose between the two. Maybe my psychologist was right about me not being LGBTQ (or at most, cis and gay) and it just being a massive cope to avoid having to go to church.
