She had serious untreated mental illness and was actively driving me into poverty and homelessness. After her last breakdown I begged her to go to the mental hospital after she threatened to kill herself. When she got out after a week (she called me exactly twice while in there) she jokingly mentioned half the reason why she agreed to go in was to get "a little vacation from work" (she quit). That Monday before I went into work I made it absolutely clear that we were in a dire financial situation and that she needed to work on getting a new job while I was grinding at work in order for us to survive. When I got home, she simply told me that she hadn't done it because "I was just so tired from being at the hosptial...it's not a vacation spot you know". That was the final straw for me. It evidenced to me clearly that she was not taking this seriously, didn't care about our future, and was unlikely to change in any real capacity. So I ended it that night.

This is of course on top of lying, cheating, and any number of other minor offenses. But that's sort of small potatoes when it comes to potentially ruining someone's financial future forever.

She was being prescribed meds before going in but was inconsistent about taking them. She would offload the responsibility for taking them onto me by requesting that I get them for her, and to remind her to take them. Not because she couldn't remember to do it herself, but because she didn't want to but wanted to be held accountable for it. It might sound a little reasonable but really it ended up with me feeling like I was pushing her to take meds she didn't want to take and making me responsible for whether she was properly medicated, instead of her. I explained this dynamic to her at the start but she just shrugged and made me do it anyways. Idk if the meds helped or hurt but it didn't matter because the entire dynamic was extremely toxic for our relationship
