I'll try to post regular updates with the progress on the blanket but it's probably going to take me months to make it so I likely won't be posting too often. So far I only managed to convert the image I want to use into pixel art by trying to remake it pixel by pixel (picrel). I also tried making it into a pattern but most pattern maker sites have a 300x300 limit so I had to program one myself to separate the pixels and number the rows and columns.
