I (a repper, future manmoder) have began watching Evangelion because a lot of trannies talk about how much they relate to Shinji or how they wish they were like Misato. Also I like mechs.

I am on episode 10 and it's almost all goonerslop. Every episode has some innuendo about Shinji living with Misato, his classmates lusting over her, Shinji being called a pervert (arguably true at times) by Asuka, Asuka and Kaji being ever so slightly more subtly inappropriate, and weird shots all over (was the panning shot of Reis clothing on the floor as she takes off her panties really necessary?). The end to EP10 is Shinji listening to Misato and Asuka wrestle in the hotspring and getting an erection for fucks sake.

Am I a prude? Am I the pervert? I admit there are scraps of what I heard being talked about like Shinji suffering from lacking in assertiveness, some mention of more esoteric stuff in relation to the Impact and Angels but besides it's all just goonerslop.

Either I am an unfeeling crude moid unable to read between the lines or you are all degenerate. Alternatively, it just gets a sudden spike in quality later on. I hope for the latter, since I don't want to feel like I wasted my time.

Please tell me fellow trannies, successful ones and wannabes, what are your experiences with Evangelion?

idk i thought it was pretty good. i'm not really phased by the typical fan service elements in anime, didn't think it was that bad.
been watching the rebuild movies again with a friend lately cause he's to much of a STUPID MOID to watch the original series. they left a lot of things out, Kaji barely a character in the movies.

anyway, a different friend said he had to stop watching in like the first episode cause of the innuendos. so it's not just you ig. if you dont like it by now you probably wont like it later, but it does get better imo.
if you do decide to go through it all, just uh, make sure you watch EoE instead of just stopping after the last episode. love EoE.

first watched eva when i was like 16 iirc. didn't really get it back then, thought it was just okay and remember the last couple of episodes being WAY worse.

i re-watched it (the series + EoE) in my mid 20s and it all clicked much better. thought it was very good, a classic, even.
maybe give it another shot yourself. could be good

You have to be REALLY autistic to think mainstream anime from the 90s has ANYTHING to do with being trans.

But is it "goonerslop?" No I don't think os. Is this your first anime? That's probably a cultural difference. American culture is very prude compared to Japanese. What a Japanese audience might see as just lighthearted erotic humor Americans will consider actually erotic and trying to bait them into gooning.

It gets better. Episodes 8-12 is when the show is at its worst in my opinion. It starts to pick up at episode 13. Episodes 18 and 19 are fucking crazy. You should finish watching it.

Also here's my recommmended best watch order. Watch all the way up to episode 24, then watch the End of Evangelion. After watching the movie, watch episodes 25 and 26.

It's not my first anime, I watched Dorohedoro before which had innuendos still but it was rarer and less obscene. Also I am not American but Polish.

Evangelion, in short, is about a boy's quest to fuck his mother.

Evangelion was made by smelly otaku for
smelly otaku.The character designs were lifted from Gunbuster, as were the mecha designs. And TVTokyo made the mistake of putting it on during the family hour, lol.

Anyway Evangelion fucking sucks. Watch a better anime, like Gurren Lagann.

Went through the same thing a month ago and posted about it. It does suck. It doesnt get better toward the end. It just gets preachy and surreal. Horrible story. Tbh Serial Experiments Lian is also not very good. A little nostalgic but still trash.

.hack//sign is the better choice. It has the same depressing themes but actually follows a trans masc lead.

yeah desu evangelion uses its sexual themes well i think. i can see why if you are only at ep10 though you dont like them. the payoff is worth it honestly. i dont really engage in eva discussion on other boards though since most people just like it for the goonslop

its not "goonerslop" it just has a theme of sexual development that isn't even in full focus for most of most episodes.
but yes eva's mech premise is very loose on purpose if that's the grounds you get into it on you won't be impressed.

Evangelion is a shit anime/series in general, the designs are lame and the characters insufferable. It’s just goonslop, if you want a good mecha anime watch any of the UC timeline gundam series, like legit best in the genre hands down , or even galaxy express 999 it’s all about getting a new body
