Lived there for a while, went to college there. I don't mind visiting but it's the subtle details that keep me from moving there again even though I could afford a mcmansion and a porsche if I lived there. I'll take my small apartment and public transit over karens, karens everywhere. Plenty of democrat run cities but the whole place has a feel of being surrounded by barbarian hordes, one bad year and the pride flags and ukraine flags could all be replaced with don't tread on me and confederate flags. Of course you can buy all kinds of crazy ass weaponry but I'd rather just not.

Also a bottle of decent wine starts at $30 in the midwest, no wonder everyone only ever drinks beer. And if you're walking around the cops will either stop and ask if you're ok, or they'll stop and ask for some ID, depending on how brown you are that day.

This is a great response. With the Supreme Court tossing all decisions, "back to the states" who runs the state houses makes a big difference now. Living in a blue city in a red midwest state is really going in the wrong direction because the federal protections on things like abortion, LGBT issues, etc are going backward. I live in a blue city in Missouri, but the MAGA taliban run the state house.
