The great irony of statements like this (besides conflating being overly emotional with emotional intelligence) is that the complaint in and of itself is doing the exact thing the person is complaining about.
To answer the question men are socialized differently to women, we don't endlessly pry into each other and we express what we feel is curated enough to stand behind. You can argue that men should have the "emotional intelligence" to identify this about themselves and change behavior to meet a woman's needs but in that case why not argue the same thing about the woman?
The reality of the situation in this case is that this person is boring and has a shit inner world and the relationships she's getting in are ones of convenience where two people tolerate each other to not be alone.
