e.g. negative androgyny - the lack of distinct gender markers one way or another. not too tall, not too broad, jaw is a bit strong but in a model way; haircut, voice and presentation are all somewhere in between, doesn't grow facial hair nor a lot of body hair, body is somewhat twinky, lean with a smallish frame. as opposed to positive androgyny - the caricature of a tall masculine man in a dress with a beard shadow who also has tits and long hair and wears makeup and has a deep voice and a strong jawline and feminine mannerisms and fagcent and a browbone and a barrel chest and painted nails all at the same time. people tend to find negative androgyny really hot and positive androgyny really creepy.
it's also mostly afab transitioners that are able to achieve the former type of androgyny and mostly amab transitioners that get stuck in the latter, as much as some of you would crucify me for saying this. the more a hon tries to add on top of her masculine traits to mask them, the more positively androgynous she becomes. it's like trying to mask body odor with spray deodorant and loads of cologne.
