look up like, 2b wavy hair care videos.
don't brush unless it's dripping wet, don't towel dry at all to prevent frizziness.
wrap it in a t-shirt or microfiber hair wrap to let it dry.
use shampoo and conditioner for wavy hair.
try using gel when it's wet. don't try to break the gel cast until it's dry.
you can try to straighten it with an iron but it's a betrayal to our superior genetics.
try a salt water spray.
don't brush your bangs to one side, just let them hang for now.
when you get shoulder length you can worry about diffusing and mousse

There's no simple answer to that question. It's going to take research, discipline, money, and most importantly time. A fucking painful amount of time.

Straightening shampoo once a week.
Rosemary oil and a keratin heat protect spray every day.
Blow dry and heated brush.

At her length it doesn't matter what she does she's going to hate it.
Hair grows at 5-6 inches a year. Two years from now it will be shoulder length and then she can start thinking about what it's supposed to look like.

That said, rosemary oil and straightening shampoo are a great combo.
