>Like crust posting on /tv/ isn't just casual homophobia where one laughs at haha homosex, it's specifically made with the meta knowledge that there are probably fags on the board who will get offended and with the meta knowledge that this meme could seep into the "mainstream discourse" and add to some societal change or shit like that.
Hollywood is collapsing because Kathleen Kennedy did a feminism and /tv/ got upset.
To the point about the jokes becoming the reality tho, that's really the countercultural freedom that this place has always enabled. Questioning your mate's sexuality in a mocking way was part of growing up for the oldfags. When telling the jokes was decreed from on high to be an act of genuine homophobia everyone faced a choice:
1. Stop telling the jokes
2. Be genuinely homophobic
Normies picked option 1, 4chan picked option 2 because fuck you that's why.
And you can see that being repeated in the trans debate. People who just don't care about trans are being told they must behave in a certain way, by people who really do not occupy a moral high ground at this point, and so they are deliberately not behaving in that way. By telling the normies they HAVE to be trans-inclusive, we're making them transphobic.
