Your first claim is almost certainly not true unless you're mixing up all people receiving some sort of benefit from the government for whatever reason, a majority of which are designed to be temporary. Disability pension specifically tends to be very difficult to actually qualify for, and it's known that a majority of the people receiving it would prefer having the ability to work.

Second, funding it through taxes is much cheaper per person than any alternative, increases economic activity and individual freedom.
