Yeah I've come to really enjoy it. With no expectation of having children you really get to live the life you want to lead, even if that does mean eventually adopting children. Being gay sort of forces you out of the default life path and makes you really think about things like that

it's the smaller gay towns and centres which are ghettos but in big cities there is usually a mega gay ghetto with the bars/clubs and then just gay people sprinkled everywhere

i live in a homophobic area and even i would never pretend that i have it half as bad as someone in parts of africa or the middle east
maybe if i lived in california i wouldn't hate being gay but here i very much do and it is so deeply internalized i will never get over it now
moreover i denied myself any sexuality until my mid 20s when i finally travelled and met confident gay people but even now the prohibition is hopelessly ingrained

I mean, not really, but I find your existences to be humiliating to me. I relate to this a lot (but for being trans), you are automatically forced into an ego death and have to build yourself back up from first principles. It's challenging but you come out of it with a deeper understanding of what YOU want as opposed to what society wants for you.
