What is the deal with asexuals? Are they valid?

They seem to be abused AFAB with childhood traumas. Or AMAB who are too ashamed to call themselves lesbians.

I'm both aromantic and asexual. I doubt many trenders would try to pretend to be both of these, because I doubt people would be able to handle the loneliness if they actually deep down desired a significant other.

I struggle to really understand them and treat it as real, but one of my best friends is asexual and everyone’s sexual neuroses come from somewhere
