Whenever it's studied the only form of advocacy that really improves people's opinions of a fringe group is knowing positive examples personally. So be a positive example to cis friends and family.
If you wanted a more systemic approach, trannies are ideologically compatible with NRx/moldbug types (the latter I believe had a trans mistress at one point?). Combine that with general exposure therapy. For understandable reasons a lot of transes like to be alone, but being an active member of the community reinforces trans people are nice and normal. I like to do occasional free yard work for neighbors, give out glowsticks and donate fireworks to their 4th of July parties, or give them homemade wine during Christmas. Some of these people don't get out much and might not have known any trannies if I didn't come around. Now an old lady and her husband, a single mom and her two kids, and a guy in his 50s caretaking for his 100 year old mother know a "good" transgender person, and are less likely to believe bullshit about the group as a whole.

I think public opinion about us will shift fairly easily in the absence of constant agitation and smear campaigns from the right. I watched public opinion change rapidly on both gay people and trans people since I first came out in the early 00s. Views on trans people changed for the better more than I literally could have imagined, and all it really took was a little bit of education and a couple of public figures being normal people.

This current period is the result of unbelievable wealth poured into a media ecosystem. Intentional testing to find the few anti trans talking points that could stick. Constant lies and misinfo. And even so, we're at the very bottom of most people's political concerns.

They're going this hard because when they let up the pressure and we are allowed to just live our lives in peace, people are going to realize there was no danger. It happened with gays already and they STILL can't get the cat back in the bag. The predictions about gay marriage leading to bestiality or whatever did not come to pass. And everyone knows it.

So: what you can do is survive, OP. Keep going, outlast your oppressors, be kind to other trans people and try to keep them alive. If it's safe to be out in your personal life, you could do that and be the person your cis acquaintances think of when they hear about anti trans shit.
