Why doesn't this movie ever get mentioned here?
>literally asks boy "would you still like me even if I wasn't a girl?"
>lives with gross 60 year old pedo chaser who ruins his life for her
>so manipulative she won't even fuck him even after he begs and reminds her that he *murders* for her, just lets him feel her up naked while she stares bored up at the ceiling
>first thing boy says when he meets her is "you smell funny"
>cold-climate boymoder means instead of wearing hoodie in summer, she goes coatless in freezing Swedish winter

ita a good movie and one of my all time favourites but your greentext is exactly why it's not discussed because people like you make twist the source material into something political. the book does not make it some sort of political or social statement by the fact that the vampire was a castrated boy, its just part of the narrative. yet again troons will make everything about themselves

I'm in love with this film. I was obsessed with it for years, even to this day.

It's a horrible trans allegory and I think people who affix to it like that miss the point. Still, when I saw this thread here my heart skipped a beat. I LOVE this film, and the book especially. Taught me so much about love and loneliness. Nothing has ever spoken to me like the book and movie. Even the 2010 film isn't so bad.

It's called Let The Right One In, the 2008 version. Fuck the OP for not just saying it. Watch it. It's really not much on it's own but...God. Do I love it.

Yeah exactly. I'm the obsessed poster and this is exactly how I feel about it. Eli was literally horribly castrated against their will and forced into the role they took in the film and book but trannies see it as an icon. Fucking stupid.

Setting it in Sweden is half the otherwordly charm. I grew up in a cold climate and there are few movies that as accurately convey the weird bleakness of Scandinavia. Banal mid-century architecture, repressed people, it just nails it.

This was the original movie poster but Weinstein said it wasn't scary enough.

Thanks. Honestly I wouldn't expect much on your part, it's honestly a low budget film. But it means something to me, and there's something emotional there. The performances are well done, get the intent across clearly. The key to the film is love and loneliness, and it's in every character, even the '60 year old pedo chaser' as the op puts it. The book expands on things even further.

If you're lonely, it'd speak to you, I think.
