I'd like to give you some sort of answers to your OP post but i think it's impossible; i don't think you've got any kind of problem, friendships are hard to make and maintain as it is, i can imagine shit get even harder when you're trans, but as that single guy friend proves, it's very possible! Keep doing what you're doing with him, and learn from that relationship and you'll be fine, you'll get more chances to make friends along the way don't worry.
