Gender dysphoria is actually much more common than what we generally think (I think it affecting 25% of the population would be a gross underestimation).
But most people just repress. The strict gender roles that society enforces helps with this repression (this is why so many mtfs are former chuds and detrans people typically run to the right). People with autism have far less considerations for social normals, so they just happen to be much more open to transitioning.
So in reality, autism is only overrepresented among trans people because it lowers the mental barriers to transition. There is no actual, direct link between autism and gender dysphoria itself.
If we lived in the Star Trek future. I can only imagine that trans people would have an even greater level of acceptance than even gays enjoy. Since such a massive % of the population would be free to finally accept that category, rather then running away from their dysphoria.
