Maybe I just wasn't online enough in 2014 but I am pretty sure I didn't know about medical transition at that point and I don't think most people did unless they were surrounded by out LGBT people (and I wasn't exactly living under a rock, I had plenty of out LGBT friends and family)

This stuff really only became common household knowledge around 2020 when the culture wars pushed it into the mainstream, a confused angry kid with money wasn't going to automatically know they were experiencing "dysphoria" let alone that they could actually turn into a girl
