I believe that most cultures possess an implicit awareness of autogynephilia, but that most people don't fully understand the concept.

In most cultures, there's an understanding of:

I also dated a girl when I was a teenager, it didn't work out, but for about a month, I didn't feel my AGP much at all, thought it was "curing" me, of course that went away with the novelty of the relationship, which broke down because I didn't have much allosexual desire to begin with.
I think the lesson here is that AGP manifests in different ways, like any other sexuality, and the correct path differs.
