I think it comes with age/time on HRT. I was very anti-transmedicalist back when I was babytrans, but now that I've been a troon for a longer period of time (6+ years) I start to see that transmedicalists had it right.
I wasn't much of a woman when I started E, just a crossdresser at first. I'd say the point at which you become a woman (or a man for FTMs) is when your bloodwork reflects the same levels of a cis person your age.

This is 100% my personal bias here, but I knew I wasn't a man, a boy, whatever, by the time I was like 7. I didn't troon out until 29 due to a mix of repping and lack of information. Does this mean I was "always a woman"? Fuck no. I can only begin to think of myself as such from the moment HRT started having visible effects. Would I have preferred to troon out sooner? You bet. But I don't think lateshits are inherently less womanly than youngshits.

Transmedicalism is pretty misguided in my mind. Throwing away actual solidarity and sowing division for the sake of purity tests gets nobody anywhere. Attempting so hard to fit into assigned societal roles or living up to ideals just leads to the sort of behavior that causes so many conservatives to hate trans people altogether.
